ISO 45001 occupational health & safety management system

ISO 45001 is the official global occupational health & safety management system standard issued by the International Organization for Standardization in Switzerland. It is an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an occupational health & safety (OH&S) management system.

The ISO 45001 standard helps organisations like ourselves to provide a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and visitors by preventing work-related injury and ill health through application of a targeted OH&S management system.

It includes requirements for the continual improvement of our systems and approach to health and safety concerns, as well as requiring integration of OH&S management into our strategic planning processes, and commitment to proactive initiatives to continue to raise OH&S performance across the business.

...

The key benefits we recognise from application of the standard include: very low rates of workplace health and safety incidents; low absenteeism and staff turnover; high employee productivity; a positive health and safety culture; reinforced leadership commitment to OH&S performance; full alignment with our OH&S legal and regulatory requirements; and high staff morale.

Eden Office Health & Safety Policy

As part of our management of health and safety in the workplace, we have a regularly updated health & safety policy to govern our approach and specifically define the commitment of our leadership team to OH&S. This is developed by our internal health & safety team, and reviewed regularly by our management team to ensure we are at the forefront of global best practice. An excerpt of the core policy is below.

To deliver on our health & safety commitment, we will: demonstrate a visible high priority for safety; ensure annual safety objectives and plans are defined, developed, and deployed; ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, codes of practice and standards to which we subscribe; ensure all injuries and near miss

incidents are accurately reported, recorded, and investigated; ensure all equipment, facilities, materials, and processes are regularly reviewed for hazards; raise health & safety awareness and provide training at all levels in the business; provide positive recognition for staff contributions to safety excellence; support the safe and early return to work of injured employees; consult with staff on health and safety matters; and implement, review, and maintain an active health & safety management system.

Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace is fundamental to delivering on our core business values.
